Job summary

Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC) is seeking an On-Call Program Aide to support after-school education programs in Arlington, VA. This temporary, part-time hourly role requires flexibility to cover shifts at multiple sites, including several Arlington program locations.

You will help implement lesson plans, supervise students, and maintain a safe, engaging environment; experience with children and strong communication are preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children or in educational settings preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to different age groups and locations.
• Dependable, punctual, flexible, and professional.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
• On-call, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide program support and supervision during the absence of regular staff.
• Facilitate educational, recreational, and enrichment activities as directed by site staff.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging out-of-school time environment.
• Follow lesson plans, schedules, and routines provided by site staff.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
• Supervise and ensure the well-being of students during shifts.
• Support positive youth development practices and behavior management.
• Assist with program setup, cleanup, and preparation of materials.
• Adhere to all AHC policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
