Job summary

City and County of Denver's Parks and Recreation department seeks an Adaptive Recreation Instructor (On-Call) to deliver programs at multiple centers. This part-time role works up to 39 hours per week, with planning and setup time included, and is not eligible for benefits.

Ideal candidates have experience with people with disabilities, CPR/First Aid within 6 months, and a valid driver’s license. Hours include day, evening, and weekend shifts across Denver facilities.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
• One year of experience in assisting in the operation and instruction of organized recreation activities.
• CPR and First Aid certification within 6 months of date of hire; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Work with full-time staff to plan and implement goal-based adaptive recreation programs.
• Maintain a safe, fun and trusting program environment for all participants.
• Work directly with volunteers to aid in facilitation of programs.
• Develop instructional plan to achieve established objectives.
• Executes instructional plans using prescribed teaching methods, including coaching and group and individual instruction.
• Evaluates and communicates student/participant progress to all appropriate staff.
• Assists in the organization and administration of special events.
• By position, performs various tasks to maintain a facility and/or provide program administrative support.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
