Job Description

Old Mutual Finance was established in 2008 to provide unsecured lending products and services to the SA market. The business started with a staff compliment of 34 and has since grown to over 3000 staff with more than 300 branches nationally. Within our branches we offer insurance, lending products as well as servicing.

OMF is seeking to hire a Learning Consultant, the role will report to the OMF Learning Performance Consultant. The Learning Consultant role for Experience is responsible to design, deliver and evaluate business development and onboarding learning solutions that support business alignment to strategic objectives. The incumbent is required to consult and make recommendations for continuous improvement to business development and onboarding learning solutions, so they are relevant, and is individually accountable for achieving results through own efforts.

The essential skills required for the role is communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, project management, creativity, collaborative, consulting, critical thinking, decision-making, tech-savviness, cultural awareness & inclusion, learning design and facilitation. The desirable skills are emotional intelligence and business partnering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consults with stakeholders to determine learning needs and appropriate methodologies for learning solutions

  • Actively demonstrate the importance of collaboration by working closely with all stakeholders to determine and achieve learning objectives

  • Plan and track progress of assigned learning solution deliverables against strategic objectives whilst challenging and providing direction

  • Delivers relevant and insightful information to stakeholders through reporting

  • Evaluate the impact and outcomes of the assigned learning solutions by measuring and monitoring the effectiveness as well as efficiency


Operational

  • Conduct needs analyses and design learning frameworks and solutions that address business, performance and learning outcomes

  • Design and deliver a complete learning experience that supports the transfer of learning in the workplace for onboarding and business development

  • Develops and delivers online and/or workplace learning solutions that are linked to business projects

  • Facilitates virtual and/or face-to-face classroom learning that is linked to onboarding learning programmes


Risk Management

  • Maintain the governance, disciplines and controls associated to onboarding and business development learning

  • Apply the Quality Management process to the design and delivery of assigned learning solutions

  • Ensure that all learning designed and/ or delivered comply with regulatory or business requirements


Learning & Talent Development capability

  • Contribute to the building of the instructional design, training delivery & facilitation and evaluating impact capabilities.


Qualifications / Experience required

  • Relevant Business or HR or L&D tertiary qualification (Min. NQF 6)

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a L&D role(s) responsible for the design and/or delivery (facilitation) and evaluation of learning solutions for either business projects or programmes

  • Knowledge of L&D practices, principles, methodologies and techniques used preferably in Financial Services

  • Experience working with key stakeholders on projects linked to either learning programmes and/or business changes

Support and advise on the learning and professional development of the workforce. Implement and execute policies, processes, and training offerings.

Responsibilities

Learning and Development (L&D) Program Delivery

Deliver training courses or programs, engaging, advising, and guiding learners and evaluating the achievement of intended learning outcomes.


Learning and Development (L&D) Program Design

Design and develop learning and development (L&D) programs to meet individual and organizational learning needs within specified timescales and resources; identify and incorporate appropriate L&D methodologies and delivery channels; develop relevant content and high-quality learning resources to create high levels of learner engagement and achievement of learning outcomes.

Learning Needs Analysis

Engage with team or department line managers to clarify short-term priorities for learning and development (L&D) interventions; gather relevant data on performance and current levels of competence; identify gaps in relation to required levels and obtain agreement on required outcomes.


Personal Capability Building

Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfil personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
