Job Description

Manage and implement anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing
policies and procedures in compliance with central bank regulations. Manage the
bank's efforts in detecting money laundering and terrorist financing through
examination of individual and connected account behavior. Deliver anti-money
laundering capability ensuring compliance with domestic and global legislation and
with business strategy. Identify, research, develop, and implement new avenues to
combat money laundering and terrorist financing. Ensure the bank operates in
accordance with all regulatory and legal requirements and that the bank's standards
of conduct protect and enhance the bank's reputation and avoid significant financial
losses. Analyze the impact of regulatory trends and developments with respect to
anti-money laundering and monitor the implementation of change.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fraud/Financial Crime Investigation | FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING | FRAUD MANAGEMENT

Investigate complex cases of suspected fraud or financial crime. Identify lines of inquiry and gather and retain information and physical or electronic evidence that enables criminal investigation and/or legal action, engaging specialist investigators or subject-matter experts where necessary. Review the evidence gathered and recommend appropriate action to the organization.

Fraud/Financial Crime Management | FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING | FRAUD MANAGEMENT

Manage the delivery of fraud/financial crime prevention and monitoring activities within a significant area of operations, such as digital, anti-terrorism, or money laundering, to minimize the risk of financial losses or reputational harm in line with the organization's fraud management policies and procedures.

Fraud/Financial Crime-Management Systems Development | FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING | FRAUD MANAGEMENT

Identify new and emerging fraud risk factors, draft key elements of fraud prevention policies and procedures, and propose new and/or improved anti-fraud systems functionalities to enable the organization to prevent fraud/ financial crime, detect and investigate suspicious activity, and mitigate the risks of losses or reputational harm.

Regulatory and Compliance Management | CORPORATE AFFAIRS | REGULATORY AND REGISTRATION

Help design and implement a compliance program, liaising with the regulator to ensure the program adheres to regulatory and compliance standards. This may also involve supervising the activities of a regulatory/compliance team.

Leadership and Direction | GENERAL | LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION

Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these and to do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.

Budgeting | FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING | FINANCIAL PLANNING AND ANALYSIS

Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues.

Financial Risk Management | FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING | RISK MANAGEMENT

Oversee a complex area or set of projects, guiding the financial risk management activities of a business unit, strengthening the organization's overall risk posture.

Data Collection and Analysis | ANALYTICS AND DATA SCIENCE | DATA SCIENCE

Use data from a wide range of sources to analyze key themes and identify possible impacts on the business.

Insights and Reporting | ANALYTICS AND DATA SCIENCE | GENERAL

Contribute to the design and creation of reporting strategies and templates. Lead execution of complex reports, identifying and interpreting complex patterns and trends, and translating those insights into actionable recommendations.

Performance Management | GENERAL | LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION

Develop and propose own performance objectives; take appropriate actions to ensure achievement of agreed objectives, using the organization's performance management systems to improve personal performance. Or manage and report on team performance; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project/ account team members and hold people accountable for achieving them, taking appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team/personal objectives.

Organizational Capability Building | GENERAL | LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION

Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions to build their capabilities. Provide training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3 - 5 Years AML experience
  • 3 - 5 Years Management experience
  • NQF level 7 or equivalent
  • Unsecured and secured lending experience, advantage
  • Transactional banking experience, advantage
  • AML risk rating, Sanctions Screening, RMCP experience, especially the application of the RMCP framework in business-as-usual processes
  • Have a good understanding of regulatory implementation processes, where regulations change from time to time
