Role Overview: The Knowledge Team supports our firm by executing demanding research projects across various topics and industries. We are seeking a Senior Research Analyst focused on the Corporate & Investment Banking sectors. This role is embedded within Oliver Wyman’s Banking & Financial Services Practice, requiring collaboration with practice leaders, senior consultants, and the Knowledge team.

The OW Corporate and Investment Banking Research Analyst delivers impact by integrating industry expertise, deep knowledge, and curiosity in the fast-changing financial services sector. We seek someone collaborative, creative, and critical-thinking oriented, who digs deep to solve problems.

As a Research Analyst, you will become the go-to researcher for the practice, utilizing strong research skills in financial databases, synthesizing datasets, reports, and insights, and providing relevant analysis. Building relationships with practice heads, partners, and stakeholders through meetings and presentations is key.

Client engagements are data-driven, requiring excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills to analyze and present large datasets and identify inconsistencies.

Over time, you will mentor junior colleagues and contribute to training on FS resources, leveraging our firm’s learning programs for professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scope and develop research needs, conduct accurate and cost-effective research
  • Deliver well-synthesized research outputs, highlighting key concepts and trends
  • Manage large datasets and perform data analysis
  • Lead customized research products and identify new research opportunities
  • Contribute to storytelling and module research for reports and marketing collateral
  • Utilize OW’s AI tools to enhance research and deliverables
  • Collaborate with team members and coach junior staff
  • Adhere to firm standards and processes
Experience Required:
  • 3+ years in financial services research or analysis at a consultancy, bank, or market research firm
  • Strong understanding of financial services trends, regulatory impacts, and competitive dynamics
  • Bachelor’s degree; CFA is a plus
  • Project management skills
  • Collaborative approach and service orientation
  • Passion for learning and growth
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with research tools like Capital IQ, Eikon, Bloomberg, Preqin, Pitchbook, Dealogic, Factiva, Morningstar
  • Experience with AI tools for research enhancement
  • Ability to work with large data sets; knowledge of PowerBI is beneficial

The base salary range is $75,000 to $135,000 USD, determined by experience and other factors. Additional performance incentives and benefits are offered. We support a hybrid work environment with flexible remote options and in-office collaboration at least three days per week.
