Job Highlights

Youth Apprentices in nurse aide roles will join a dedicated nursing team, providing excellent patient care. You will work with a nurse mentor who will guide your training and provide ongoing support. If direct patient care excites you and you have completed the Oklahoma Nurse Aide certification with a passing score, this role could be ideal.

Job Details

  • Work effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly, and pay close attention to details.
  • Maintain academic and attendance requirements for the Youth Apprenticeship Program.
  • Participate in progress reviews with mentors, school staff, parents/guardians, and employer.
  • Assist in providing safe patient care by answering call lights, taking vital signs, and monitoring behavior and physical condition.
  • Create a positive patient experience by assisting with activities of daily living, including bathing, ambulating, feeding, skin care, hygiene, and bed making.
  • Assist with procedures such as toileting, turning, coughing and deep breathing, catheter care, specimen collection, and recording intake/output.
  • Promote patient satisfaction through compassionate responses, open communication, and emotional support.
  • Relay information via charting and communication to team members to ensure safety and quality care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience Requirements

  • Must be entering senior year of high school (minimum age: 16).
  • Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant registered on the Oklahoma State Registry.
  • Must be enrolled in an Advanced Unlicensed Assistant program at a Career Tech supporting the apprenticeship.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Satisfactory progress towards graduation.
  • Commit to completing 400 hours at the jobsite over the 2025-26 academic year.
  • Demonstrated maturity and responsibility.
  • Attention to detail, excellent attendance, and a strong work ethic.
  • Foster a caring culture through interpersonal relationships and communication.

Job Summary

Assist with administrative and clinical duties in a physician’s office, from general procedures to assisting in exam rooms and elementary medical laboratory techniques.

Primary Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
  • Respond to patient inquiries in person and by phone.
  • Schedule patient appointments.
  • Maintain patient records and perform administrative tasks.
  • Set up for exams/procedures and room patients.
  • Instruct patients on specimen collection.
  • Assist in testing under supervision.
  • Help physicians with routine examinations.
  • Clean and prepare supplies, maintain inventory.
  • Obtain vital signs.
  • Respect patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Work safely and attentively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Must be at least 16 years old and enrolled in high school or 18 with a diploma/GED.
  • For IL/MO: Completion of a state-approved unlicensed assist personnel program or meet exempted guidelines (proof required).

Physical Requirements

  • Constant standing, walking.
  • Frequent hearing and speech use.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying of 0-25 lbs.
  • Reaching, gripping, keyboard use.
  • Visual acuity for near and far distances and color recognition.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting, repetitive movements.
  • Occasional lifting/moving patients weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of smell, occasional driving.

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA.
  • For Wisconsin: CNA certification from the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry.
