Job summary

OXY, Inc. is seeking an Automation Specialist for the US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management unit, based in Denver City, Texas.

You will install, test, and calibrate automation systems, support commissioning with the Project Manager, and provide on-site automation support during startup of facilities. The role requires a 2-year Instrumentation or Automation degree (or equivalent) with safety-focused experience and 3+ years in oil fields.

Qualifications

• 2-year Instrumentation or Automation technology degree with GPA 2.5+ or foreign equivalent
• 3+ years of Oil Field experience
• Intermediate knowledge of RTU designs, programming and troubleshooting
• Intermediate knowledge of analog and discrete instrumentation and various protocols
• Basic PLC programs and HMI interfaces maintenance
• Ability to travel to unassigned job areas as needed
• Ability to work under air (fit test) and on aerial platforms
• Comfort working with MS Office and Windows OS
• Strong safety mindset and ability to work with limited supervision

Responsibilities

• Install, test and calibrate automation equipment per engineering specs
• Perform point-to-point and loop checks on devices
• Coordinate oversight of automation commissioning with Project Manager
• Support project status reporting for entry on project tracking tool
• Provide on-site automation support during startup of facilities
• Serve as technical resource for facility controls systems and field instrumentation
• Ensure commissioning activities comply with Process Control standards
• Ensure compliance with MOC process
• Identify problem areas with instrumentation and control systems and report to automation engineering
