JOB DESCRIPTION – Oil & Gas Product Insight Specialist

Position Summary:

Our client is looking for an Oil & Gas Product Insight Specialist that will be responsible for conducting in-depth analysis of our product lines, providing actionable insights to drive product rationalization, profitability, and market competitiveness. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, an understanding of market dynamics, and the ability to collaborate across functions to support strategic decision-making. Experience in the oil and gas chemicals sector is preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret sales data, market trends, and customer feedback to evaluate the performance of products within the portfolio.
  • Product Rationalization: Identify underperforming products and provide recommendations for discontinuation, modification, or investment based on profitability, market demand, and strategic fit.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze the cost structure of each product, including production, distribution, and marketing costs, to assess profitability and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Market Research: Conduct competitive analysis to understand market positioning, identify trends, and provide insights into potential product gaps or opportunities.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on product performance, market trends, and rationalization strategies for senior management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the product management, marketing, sales, and finance teams to ensure that product rationalization efforts are aligned with overall business goals.
  • Forecasting: Assist in forecasting product demand and performance to support inventory management and production planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering, or a science-related field of study.
  • 3-5 years of experience in product analysis, data analysis, or a related role within the oil and gas or chemicals industry.
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle management and rationalization strategies

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in business intelligence and data analysis tools such as Power BI.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate effectively with various teams.
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office products.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and results-oriented with a bias for action
