Job summary

Chapman Bros in Cranford, NJ is seeking an Oil Burner Service Technician to join our HVAC/plumbing team. Earn an hourly base plus commission with strong growth potential in a community-focused company known for training and career advancement.

You’ll diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair oil boilers, burners, and heating systems; perform preventive maintenance and tune-ups; and service related oil equipment. A valid driver’s license is required, HVAC experience preferred, and safety comes first.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Oil and/or Propane Service Technician.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing oil burners, boilers, and heating systems.
• HVAC service experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while effectively communicating with customers, dispatchers, and team members.
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
• Strong attention to safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair oil boilers, burners, and heating systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, tune-ups, and system cleanings.
• Service and maintain pumps, hoses, nozzles, and related oil heating equipment.
• Service and maintain heating oil tanks, including interior and exterior systems.
• Respond to service calls and identify and resolve safety concerns.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and service departments throughout the workday.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of service and repairs performed.
• Deliver courteous, knowledgeable, and professional service to customers.
• Follow company safety procedures and uphold high standards for quality and efficiency.
• Manage the physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
