Job description

A nationally recognized law firm with a specialized focus on the energy sector is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Oil & Gas Title Attorney to join its team. This full-time position involves conducting title examinations and preparing title opinions for properties in Oklahoma. The role is ideal for an attorney with at least three years of oil and gas title experience who thrives in a collaborative, detail-oriented, and client-focused work environment. Remote and hybrid options are available depending on location and experience level.

Duties

Conduct title examinations for oil and gas properties located in Oklahoma

Draft original, supplemental, and division order title opinions

Identify and resolve title defects, liens, and encumbrances

Review and analyze deeds, leases, contracts, and other title-related documents

Prepare division order ownerships with tract and allocation factors

Assist in oil and gas transactions, including due diligence for acquisitions, mergers, and joint ventures

Draft and negotiate contracts, including leases, joint operating agreements, and purchase/sale agreements

Provide legal counsel on regulatory compliance and evolving federal, state, and local laws

Collaborate with litigation attorneys on title-related disputes, if needed

Foster teamwork and collaboration across departments

Meet a quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours

Actively engage in professional development and legal education

Requirements

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Active license to practice law, with a minimum of 3 years drafting title opinions on Oklahoma lands

Experience preparing large-scale division order ownerships with tract and allocation factors

Strong understanding of oil and gas law and regulatory compliance

Commitment to ethical legal practice and client confidentiality

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task, and deliver work with attention to detail

Willingness to grow professionally and work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

Education

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution

Certifications

Active license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction

Oklahoma license preferred; other jurisdictions considered
