Job summary

OHB is seeking energetic interns for a Spring/Summer 2026 internship program to gain hands-on experience in the non-profit sports and entertainment sector. Interns will support event operations and marketing efforts for major Ohio Basketball events across multiple states.

Interns work up to 30 hours per week, with some day/evening/weekend hours during events. Remote work options are anticipated, with a mix of in-office and on-site event duties, and compensation is $15/hour with biweekly pay.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited College/University (undergrad or grad)
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

Event Operations

Internships are full time and will run from the dates below:

Spring and Summer: January 15- July 31

OhioBasketball.com is a nationally known event operator that provides high level grassroots AAU opportunities all over the Nation. Based in Northeast, Ohio, we run several boys and girls youth tournaments locally, regionally and nationally. Currently we run 80+ events across 12 different states including Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Texas, Illinois, Missouri, Virginia, Florida, and Wisconsin.

Primary Responsibilities

• Write copy for press releases/media advisories, event descriptions, e-communications, social media, marketing taglines, etc.
• Assist with social media content, scheduling and reporting.
• Assist in creation and execution of marketing campaigns.
• Aid in the distribution of marketing and promotional materials.
• Conduct market research in conjunction with planned events.
• Assist with management of social media accounts and scheduling.
• Assist with media relations during promotion and execution of events.
• Serve as event operation staff (will require additional day/evening/weekend hours) for Ohio Basketball events, including:
  • The Clash - April 23-25 in Cincinnati, OH
  • The Clash of the Clubs: May 14-16 in Houston, TX
  • The Classic: May 14-16 in Louisville, KY
  • Run 4 Roses Classic: July 8-10 in Louisville, KY
  • Run 4 Roses Championship: July 11-13 in Louisville, KY
  • *local events running in between these dates

Other Duties Include

• Assist full-time staff with event promotion, day-to-day operations, and on-site event management.
• Contact area media or event representatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Eager to learn the business of sports and ability to think outside the box.

• Must be enrolled in an accredited College/University (undergraduate or post-graduate program) or have recently completed (6-months).
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is a plus but not required.
• Be passionate and have a team-player attitude.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment during events with long hours.

Due to the nature of the organization, our projects and events are rarely the same year over year; the internship experience depends entirely on the current happenings of OHB.

Work Hours

Intern work hours are based upon individual schedules and interns will work and be paid for up to 30 hours per week, between 9am - 5pm Monday-Thursday. If the student is receiving college credit for the internship, the college or university can help define work hours for the student, up to 30 hours per week. During events, additional hours and weekend times are expected.

Compensation

OHB interns will be paid $15/hour (minus required withholdings) for their time and services, up to 30 hours per week. Interns are paid biweekly.

Flexibility

Remote work options are anticipated for staff and interns on select days during this time. Candidates are asked to be flexible in their ability to work both remote, in-person at our office, and on-site at events or meetings throughout the summer. From a scheduling perspective, interns should expect a minimum of 2 days a week where they will need to work in-person.

Transportation and Parking

Transportation and parking are not provided by OHB. Candidate must own and operate their own vehicle.

Supervision

The Director of Marketing will serve as your direct supervisor and the supervisor for the internship program overall. However, intern tasks and projects require a significant amount of cooperation among staff members. Interns must be able to establish close working relationships with the entire OHB staff. A general respect both for and from the intern is expected and required.
