Job summary

Latham & Watkins is seeking an OGC Analyst in Washington D.C. to prepare and analyze conflicts reports for incoming attorneys and new client business. The role involves communicating with attorneys, updating databases, and conducting corporate research.

About The Role

The OGC Analyst – Conflicts Reporting is an integral part of Latham’s Office of the General Counsel team and will be responsible for preparing and analyzing standard conflicts reports regarding incoming attorneys and new client business , while analyzing standard new business and lateral conflicts checks such as advisory, NDAs, transactional checks, and others. This role will be located in either our Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Chicago or Washington D.C. office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Communicating with attorneys and staff regarding conflict check results, any missing information from the request form, and validating the requirements for the conflicts check with the attorney or secretary requesting the report
  • Updating data in the conflicts databases as necessary and conducting corporate research using internal and external information resources to confirm the accuracy of the information
  • Obtaining the necessary guidance from attorneys or other Conflicts staff with understanding the requirements to properly evaluate the conflicts check (lateral candidate, potential client, potential adverse party, etc.)
  • Conducting research regarding corporate entities that are subject to conflicts review using a variety of electronic databases, the Internet, and print sources
  • Analyzing and replying to attorneys’ responses concerning any potential or actual conflict
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

  • Possess well-developed, professional interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively interface with attorneys, management, support staff, and outside contacts
  • Demonstrate the organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously


And have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent; a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated work experience involving professional interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and the ability to work independently
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a law firm or other professional services firm, preferably
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience with Intapp Open software, preferably
