Job summary

Target is seeking an Offsite Warehouse Driver to transport and unload goods to and from offsite locations, ensuring on-time delivery and safe handling.

The role requires a valid driver's license, compliance with DOT regulations, ability to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends), strong safety focus, and basic paperwork like bills of lading. Starting rate is $18.75 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess a medical examiner’s certificate.
  • Must pass required road test (if applicable for your state) conducted by the store.
  • Understand and follow all traffic signs, directions, and signals.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Work both independently and with a team.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests and assist with finding items to ensure a smooth shopping experience.
  • End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
  • Support team efforts and assist peers while staying positive and respectful.
  • Safely transport, load, and unload product to/from offsite, complying with DOT rules.
  • Maintain backroom organization and keep product available on the sales floor.
  • Operate powered equipment offsite and in backroom if certified.

Experts of operations, process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team leads Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food safe experience. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by owning pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

  • Guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
  • Retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, process efficiency and improvement
  • Executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals
Typical Responsibilities
  • Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:

  • 4ft: greet the guest, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interaction
  • Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience
  • End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
  • Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
  • Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience
  • Responsible for the transportation, preparation, loading and unloading of product to and from offsite in a safe and efficient manner. This includes being compliant with all relevant DOT regulations.
  • Complete all required paperwork from vehicle to the offsite such as Bill of Lading and the driver vehicle inspection report.
  • Ensure the vehicle used for transportation to and from the offsite is maintained to ensure safe operation and follows designated routes established by Store Director for maximum efficiency.
  • Pull product, organize and store reserve product correctly to ensure backroom accuracy is maintained.
  • Maintain product availability on the salesfloor.
  • If certified, operate powered equipment to move merchandise as necessary at the offsite and the store backroom.
  • Safely and efficiently operate vehicle(s) while following established routines and policies, including not using any mobile devices while driving.
  • Understand and leverage appropriate escalation tools to solve process and/or guest issues; notify leader(s) as needed.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
  • All other duties based on business needs.

Training Skills Requirements

The Good News Is That We Have Some Amazing Training That Will Help Teach You Everything You Need To Know To Be an Offsite Driver. But, there Are a Few Skills You Should Have From The Get-go:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess Class 4 Driver’s License (Hawaii only)
  • Must possess a medical examiner’s certificate
  • Must pass required road test (if applicable for your state) conducted by the store
  • Understand and follow all traffic signs, directions, and signals
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
  • Work both independently and with a team
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
Additional Basics
  • Climb up and down ladders
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); come to work when scheduled, work scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks
  • Complete all required training, certifications, and documentation provided by Target to ensure internal and federally mandated requirements are met
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
