ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE

Experts of operations, process, and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team also leads Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food-safe experience. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by owning pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work.

At Target, we believe in our team members having meaningful experiences that help them build and develop skills for a career. The role of an Offsite Warehouse Driver can provide you with the:

  • Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
  • Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory management, process efficiency, and improvement
  • Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals
Responsibilities of an Offsite Warehouse Driver

No two days are ever the same, but typical responsibilities include:

  • Transporting, preparing, loading, and unloading product to and from offsite locations safely and efficiently, complying with all relevant DOT regulations
  • Completing required paperwork such as Bill of Lading and vehicle inspection reports
  • Maintaining the vehicle used for transportation to ensure safe operation and following designated routes established by the store director for maximum efficiency
  • Pulling, organizing, and storing reserve product correctly to maintain backroom accuracy
  • Maintaining product availability on the sales floor
  • If certified, operating powered equipment to move merchandise at the offsite and store backroom
  • Safely operating vehicle(s) following established routes and policies, including not using mobile devices while driving
  • Using escalation tools to solve process and guest issues and notifying leaders as needed
  • Demonstrating a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
  • Working safely, reporting hazards, and supporting guest services such as cashier, order pickup, and Drive Up while maintaining compliance with laws
  • Creating a welcoming environment by greeting guests and assisting with their needs
  • Performing other duties as required by business needs

Prerequisite skills include:

  • Valid driver’s license (Class 4 license in Hawaii)
  • Medical examiner’s certificate
  • Ability to pass required road tests
  • Understanding traffic signs and signals
  • Proficiency with communication devices and technology
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Focus and composure in fast-paced environments
Physical and Additional Requirements
  • Climb ladders
  • Handle and move merchandise safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds
  • Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Complete required training and certifications
  • Work in varying temperatures and environments
  • Remain mobile during shifts
