Description

The Medical Assistant I provides clinical office support to the supervising physician and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  1. Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, including: checking schedules, organizing patient flow, assisting patients with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exams, and assisting physicians with procedures. Takes vital signs, relays instructions, answers calls, and provides information.
  2. Handles clerical duties such as sending/receiving medical records, obtaining reports, completing forms, managing charts, using EMR systems.
  3. Enters orders into EMR or prepares prescription refill requests for physician review.
  4. Manages inventory, orders supplies, and restocks as needed.
  5. Prepares examination rooms and instruments following sterilization and infection control standards.
  6. Maintains logs for medication refrigeration, testing, sterilization, crash carts, etc.
  7. Checks medication and supply expiration dates, disposing of expired items properly.
  8. Ensures a safe, secure, and compliant work environment following legal and institutional standards.
  9. Uses PPE appropriately to prevent exposure to hazards.
  10. Assists with maintaining medical charts, filing, and documentation.
  11. May assist with scheduling surgeries/procedures, preparing charts, and verifying times.
  12. May perform phlebotomy duties proficiently.
  13. Handles appointment scheduling, registration, and updates patient information.
  14. Verifies and updates insurance details and performs pre-certifications as needed.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Certificate as a Medical Assistant from an approved program or equivalent experience.
  • 0-2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Certification such as CMA/RMA required.

Compensation

The hourly salary range is $22.47 - $24.44, depending on experience and other factors. This does not include bonuses or benefits.
