Job summary

Seatrium in Houston seeks an experienced engineering professional to assist the Engineering Manager in coordinating multi-disciplinary design activities, managing schedules, and ensuring quality and safety on offshore and EPC projects. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in offshore, marine, oil & gas, FPSO, topsides, or EPC projects.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with engineering deliverables, design reviews, scheduling, and document control.

Responsibilities

  • Assist/support Engineering Manager in managing engineering work including engineering deliverables, man-hour and schedule control, mainly in multi-disciplinary engineering design related activities and to ensure work performed on the project is in accordance with company quality, systems and safety requirements.
  • Understand the contract and scope of work for engineering design.
  • Prepares key project documentation as per project specification requirements.
  • Manages project engineering design related drawings and controls technical documentation across disciplines.
  • Prepares schedule, pre-planning and resource forecasting for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project engineering design, ensuring all activities are kept within the project budget.
  • Assist engineering EM in organizing regular inter-discipline review meetings and interface checks.
  • Participates in project meeting, reports on the project status and attends to basic technical queries and issues including reviewing the performance of vendors/ subcontractors in the project
  • Liaises with customers, engineering design sub-contractor (if any), vendors, consultants and cross-functional team to coordinate project plan and handles technical issues in order to meet the project schedule
  • Assist engineering EM to ensure Design Reviews conducted with appropriate attendees and manage the action register to monitor the close-out of identified action items.
  • Support engineering EM in identifying dependencies and obtaining alignment with project stakeholders to ensure safety and quality are not sacrificed in the effort to meet the project schedule.
  • Collates project documentation and database from the project for submission and retention, as required and compiles the records from current and past projects as lessons learnt
  • Review & comment the activities & deliverables list from each discipline, mainly the engineering design related activities & deliverables;
  • Lead & co-ordinate between topsides’s Team, engineering lead designers from every discipline, external design house (when applicable) & client (when applicable) to define the boundary for each module and boundary between topside & engineering;
  • Co-ordinate between discipline to utilize the shared license based-on work priority;
  • Monitor & control the engineering design manhours based-on the available budget allocated by commercial team or as defined by discipline Lead Designer;
  • Record & follow-up all the engineering design pending issues / problems highlighted by Lead Designers from every discipline, and report to engineering Engineering Manager;
  • Expedite the information required by each discipline prior to start & complete the engineering design works;
  • Monitor 3D model clashing issues with other discipline;
  • Prepare Weekly Report related to Overall engineering design Progress, Area of Concern, Pending Items, Clashes Register, Interface Register, Down Time Register, Available Resources against Planned Resources, Manhour Usage against Planned Manhour, etc & Action Plan & submit to engineering & LQ Engineering Manager/Project Engineering Manager & GM;
  • Lead engineering design review activities either internally with other discipline or externally with other parties (include client);
  • Initiate, organize, participate, record & file the minutes of meeting with external parties (include client) for engineering design related activities;
  • Prepare, update & monitor the engineering design Punch List & Hold List on weekly basis, especially related to external parties (include client);
  • Support Project Planner in preparation of monthly or weekly report to client related to engineering design progress & status;
  • Support engineering Engineering Manager/Project Engineering Manager & commercial team for change order / VO related to engineering design;
  • Responsible for ensuring that all engineering design activities meet work scope & comply with Project Quality Plan.
  • Liaises with Construction & Commissioning Team to ensure engineering design activities are in-line with Area or System Completion Priority.
  • Understand and monitor all interfaces with Class Society / other regulatory bodies and Clients to ensure requirements are properly addressed and relevant documents are reviewed timely.
  • Assist engineering EM in preparing project close-out, including as-built documentation and engineering close-out reports.
  • Tack and coordinate changes with Discipline Leads ensuring team members follow the management of change process (MOC); ensure recorded changes are followed through.
  • Proactively identify and monitor areas likely to change to reduce the “surprise” element, added costs and delays to project.
  • Coordinate the interfaces with subcontractors and third party consultants and ensure all changes are captured through MOC process
