AET is seeking a Mooring Master Assistant in Galveston, TX to support the Mooring Master during STS deck operations and equipment transfer. You will guide ship officers and crew to ensure safe mooring, fendering, and hose connections.

Ideal candidates are experienced mariners with deck and lightering experience, holding AB Merchant mariner credential and STCW certificates; Tankerman preferred. This role requires offshore readiness and strict safety discipline.

Qualifications

  • The Assistant to the Mooring Master is an experienced mariner with deck operations and lightering competencies on seagoing vessels.
  • Required: AB Merchant mariner credential, TWIC, STCW BST certifications; Lifeboatman.
  • Preferred: Tankerman PIC OMSA – SafeGulf.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks and maintains lightering equipment on-board the LSV per company procedures.
  • Checks mooring equipment and reports abnormalities; ensures proper line positioning.
  • Conducts pre-operational briefing with STOP Work Authority emphasis.
  • Directs cargo hose connections and ensures procedures are followed during STS operations.
  • Oversees fendering, rigging, and safe transfer of personnel and cargo representatives.
  • Reports STS incidents and maintains QA documentation upon arrival at dock.
