Job summary

Occidental Petroleum Corporation seeks an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems across the offshore platform. You will read blueprints, troubleshoot PLCs, install wiring, and support safety procedures under PTW controls.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year on a GOM Oxy platform, plus relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: at least one year on a GOM Oxy Platform is preferred.
• THUET, T-2 Certificate is required; additional: Advanced Fire Fighting, Lifeboatman, Fast Rescue Craft, First Aid/ CPR, Helicopter Landing Officer.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance on offshore platform.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and troubleshoot PLCs.
• Install wiring and connect electrical components to motors, transformers, and power distribution systems.
• Work within PTW systems and ensure proper isolations for safe operations.
• Assist with HVAC, galley equipment, and IT-related tasks as directed.
• Troubleshoot PLCs and drive control systems; read electronic blueprints.
• Report issues impacting process safety, personnel safety, and environmental conditions.

Executes day to day I&E activities according to safety standards. Coordinates and completes documentation and activities necessary. Ensures production equipment is maintained according to company standards. Assists teams with developing solutions to rectify issues that may hinder production activities. Works with interdisciplinary offshore teams to develop solutions to mitigate production stoppages due to repair/ maintenance activities on production platforms.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure that regular preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance / repair activities and special projects involving electrical systems are performed in a timely manner so as to prevent downtime, ensure the efficient and continual functioning of all electrical equipment on board the production platformDirect hands-on participation in executing and supervising instrumentation and electrical maintenance activities, both routine and non-routine, across the platformProblem solve and properly plan all electrical projects which may include installing wire and connecting electrical components to various motors, all electrical power generation sources, rectifiers and circuits, transformers, power distribution systems, etcBe fully conversant with the responsibilities of an Issuing / Performing Authority within the PTW system for keeping the worksite safe and clean, and ensuring all isolations are performed using the stated isolation proceduresAssist with repairing refrigeration, heating and air conditioning systems, galley equipment, washer / dryers, computers, etc as directed and qualifiedBe fully conversant with Emergency and Operating Procedures and all relevant regulations; be aware of and adhere to such regulations so as to develop a safe and efficient working environmentEnsure that the electrical work is performed in a safe manner while complying with all state, federal and company rules and regulations as they pertain to the electrical components on the production platformProvide assistance to the Mechanic and Compliance Technician when requested to do soProblem solve, read and work from electronic blueprint drawings, trouble shoot & isolate down to a particular module then change defective module, install wiring and connects electrical components to various electronic equipmentBe familiar with and have the ability to troubleshoot problems with the Programmable Logic Computer (PLC) system and the networking drive control systemsReport any issues impacting process safety, personnel safety, and environmental conditionsAssist with all regulatory required testing, inspections, and completion of all required paperworkREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIESEducation: High School Diploma or GEDProfessional/Technical Knowledge:Professional / Technical Qualifications/Licences/Certifications:Minimum: THUET, T-2 CertificateAdditional: Advanced Fire Fighting, Lifeboatman, Fast Rescue Craft, First Aid / CPR, Helicopter Landing OfficerExperience: at least one year experience on GOM Oxy PlatformSkills & Competencies:Familiar with the needs and requirements of Permit To Work (PTW) systemsKnowledgeable and capable of interpreting Process and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs), troubleshooting and repairing level controllers, pressure / temperature controls, flowmeters, PLCs, and transmittersExperience in installation, repair, and troubleshooting of all instrumentation and electrical equipmentExperienced in power electrical installation works such as power cables, control circuits, and power transformersRecruitment FraudIt has come to our attention various individuals and/or organizations are contacting people falsely pretending to recruit on behalf of Oxy.
