Job summary

Oceaneering seeks a Hydrographic Technician I to assist with operating AUV and geophysical/geotechnical equipment. The role involves maintaining and repairing complex subsystems, with offshore work in the Gulf of Mexico and worldwide locations; domestic and international travel is possible.

The candidate will learn to handle cameras, acoustics, sonars, manipulators, LARS, hydraulics, and subsea tooling while supporting survey data collection and reporting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 0–1 year of survey or geoscience industry experience is preferred.
  • Must obtain or already hold TWIC card.
  • Must obtain COVID vaccination.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid passport and other offshore work documents as required.
  • Candidate should be proficient with mechanical and electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to operate oceanographic and survey equipment including cameras, sonar, and subsea tooling.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on electronics, hydraulics, mechanics, and test equipment.
  • Interface with subsea navigational equipment and survey instruments.
  • Assist with hydrographic data collection and daily survey tasks.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies for electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic assemblies.
  • Contribute to reporting and project documentation.
