Job summary

Nesco Resource is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support upstream and offshore oil & gas projects from early design through construction and commissioning in a Houston-based setting.

The role emphasizes hands-on technical design for offshore production facilities, with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and exposure to FAT/SAT activities. The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of relevant experience and a strong grasp of LV/MV systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • Approximately 5–8 years of electrical engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting upstream and offshore oil & gas projects strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing electrical systems for oil & gas production facilities.
  • Strong understanding of LV/MV power distribution systems and electrical equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with ETAP and/or SKM Power Tools.
  • Familiarity with NEC, IEC, NFPA, and API standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical deliverables including single-line diagrams, work packages, electrical studies, specs, and procurement packages.
  • Design LV and MV electrical power distribution systems for offshore and upstream facilities.
  • Perform electrical studies using ETAP and/or SKM (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, coordination).
  • Conduct hazardous area classifications and ensure equipment meets class environments.
  • Support electrical design of E-Houses and related systems for offshore facilities.
  • Develop load studies and power generation requirements, including black-start capabilities.
  • Prepare conceptual/preliminary designs to support development and bids.
  • Develop manhour estimates and electrical scopes for proposals.
  • Coordinate with disciplines, vendors, clients, and contractors throughout project execution.
  • Review drawings and documentation prior to construction; participate in constructability reviews.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist root cause analysis of electrical failures and power quality issues.
  • Review vendor documentation and respond to technical questions; participate in FAT/SAT.
