Job summary

Coastal Villages Region Fund via Coastal Alaska Premier Seafoods seeks deck hands for crab catcher vessels in Pacific/ Alaska waters. Work includes sorting crab, handling gear, loading supplies, and keeping vessel clean and safe while under demanding weather and long shifts.

Qualifications

  • Experience with seafood handling and safety protocols.
  • Ability to follow regulatory guidelines at all times.
  • Basic math and English literacy.
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions and long shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Sort crab by species/size/colour/sex and get top quality product to market.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working and living environment on board.
  • Assist in offloads and loading of supplies; may pass crane operator certification.
  • Move live seafood manually or with machines as required by operations.
  • Work on uneven, moving surfaces and in challenging weather conditions.
