Gulf Island Fabrication, Inc. seeks an offshore painting/blasting technician to operate and maintain spray and blast equipment, applying primer and finish coats to offshore structures in a Gulf of Mexico setting.
Responsibilities include safe handling of tools and safety gear, inspection of equipment, adherence to QA/QC and MSDS standards, and successful completion of pre-employment checks. Requires 2+ years offshore experience and a valid TWIC card.
To perform all painting and sandblasting job functions per contract/job specifications and quality assurance requirements/blasting and painting procedures and established ISO-QA/QC program standards. This position is located Offshore in the Gulf of America, formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico.
Individuals must know and use pressure paint guns, sandblasting hoses and nozzles, wet mill paint gauges, paint pots, air pressure compressors, protective blasting hoods, and breathing respirators.
80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.
