Job Summary
Operates Offset Press to produce best‑in‑class packaging for domestic and international use. Full commitment to excellence in OHSE and quality, protecting and promoting the environment, health and safety of employees and the community.
Responsibilities
- Operate the offset press machine according to customer specifications, troubleshoot, and monitor operation.
- Make the press ready and operate web or sheet‑fed offset printing press printing single and multi‑color copies from lithographic plates.
- Examine job orders to determine quantity, stock specifications, colors, and special printing instructions.
- Measure plate thickness, insert packing sheets, wash plates, adjust paper thickness, manage ink and dampening solutions.
- Start press, examine printed copy for ink density and registration, and make adjustments throughout production to maintain color density.
- Remove and clean plates and cylinders, apply packing sheets if needed.
- Oversee general technicians working on equipment.
- Make adjustments, clear jams, maintain speed and quality while processing product.
- Ensure efficient make‑ready, unloading, and loading.
Quality
- Review and ensure all jobs are complete, accurate, and error free.
- Ensure finished product exceeds customer expectations.
- Ensure all checklists are completed.
- Support and communicate ISO 9001‑2000 standards and quality objectives to the Offset Press Team.
- Comply with cGMP, HACCP Food Safety Requirements and Chain of Custody.
OHSE and Clean
- Ensure adherence and compliance to OHSE and Clean policies; assist team members in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Follow company safety policies and use personal protective equipment when required.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials/waste according to guidelines.
- Maintain proper uniform and use safety lifting equipment.
- Examine work areas to keep safe and neat; store and arrange equipment appropriately.
- Coach crew in safe work practices.
Communications
- Interact with team and co‑workers in a respectful, cooperative manner.
- Communicate accurate information professionally and courteously.
- Accept direction and feedback from supervisor and follow through.
Leadership
- Create and maintain a high‑performance environment with positive leadership and strong team orientation.
- Develop and encourage team members to perform tasks correctly and efficiently.
- Communicate regularly toward goals, provide feedback, and initiate corrective action.
- Motivate crew to improve quantity and quality and provide training as required.
- Use appropriate communication channels and conduct team meetings as necessary.
- Perform additional tasks as required by Department Leads, Shift Leads, or Management.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of offset press equipment operation.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer and mathematical skills to compute percentages, weights and measures.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Frequent lifting in excess of 60 lbs required.
- Manual dexterity required; ability to hold, touch, feel and manipulate equipment safely.
- Good vision and eye‑hand coordination.
- Availability to work over 8 hours per day/40 hours per week when necessary.
