Smurfit Westrock in Mebane, NC is seeking an Offset Press Operator for the night shift (7 PM–7 AM). The role focuses on meeting customer specs, color control, ink adjustments, and maintaining quality on 12-hour shifts.

You will mount plates, operate press controls, monitor color accuracy, train under supervision, and perform maintenance as needed. Candidates should have prior press experience and good communication and basic computer skills; drug screening after conditional offer applies.

Responsibilities

• Review and understand job ticket with crew and determine sheet size, colors, and quantity.
• Ensure ink matches specs on job ticket with assistance from 2nd Press Person.
• Adjust printing units for color control and register.
• Mount plates on press, with or without 2nd Operator.
• Make ink and water adjustments and operate console controls.
• Perform press maintenance and monitor quality and registration to meet customer specs.
• Complete production and quality reports as required with 2nd Operator.
• Lead crew for production, quality, and safety.
• Follow manager instructions and perform other duties as assigned.
• Lift up to 25 lbs regularly, up to 50 lbs intermittently, up to 75 lbs rarely.

The Opportunity

• Reviews and understands job ticket with crew and determines size and quantity of sheets required, colors to be.
• With assistance from 2nd Press Person ensures ink supplied matches ink specs on job ticket.
• Adjusts printing units for proper color control and register.
• Mounts plates in press, either alone or with 2nd Press Operator.
• Makes all necessary ink and water adjustments to the press.
• Understands the controls of the console and auxiliary controls for the operating systems.
• Can direct and perform maintenance on the equipment.
• Continually checks quality and registration of work, as directed, to ensures that customer specs are met.
• Completes necessary production and quality reports, with 2nd Press Operator, as required.
• Can direct a crew for optimum production and quality and safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager, Supervisor, Lead or Operator.
• Lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs intermittently and up to 75 lbs rarely.
• Stand up to 12 hours per day.
• Bend, twist, climb, squat, kneel occasionally throughout the shift.
• Uses hands for simple and power grasping, as well as push, pull and fine manipulation.
• Work at and/or below shoulder level.
• See fine detail in printed product along with checking for color accuracy.
