Job summary

Quad/Graphics is seeking an Offset Plate Maker to oversee the plate-making process from start to finish, including generating digital impositions and producing press-ready plates. You will work with internal and external customers to ensure smooth, efficient printing operations.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, basic computer and mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work varying shifts with potential overtime. No prior experience is required as training is provided.”

Responsibilities

• Create digital plate surfaces with precision and care.
• Maintain platemaking equipment, including daily/weekly maintenance and troubleshooting Creo errors.
• Load and unload platemaking materials to manufacture plates for press usage.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to keep production on track.
• Inspect plates for quality to meet high standards.
• Track and move job components through production using Smart tools.

General Purpose of Job

As an Offset Plate Maker at Quad, you'll play a hands-on role in bringing print to life. You'll oversee the plate-making process from start to finish - generating digital impositions - producing press-ready plates, maintaining equipment, and ensuring every plate meets our quality standards. You'll collaborate with internal and external customers to keep the printing process running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain platemaking equipment, including daily and weekly processor maintenance, loading materials, and troubleshooting Creo errors
• Load and unload platemaking materials to and from equipment to manufacture plates for press usage
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues as they arise, keeping production on track
• Inspect plates for quality, ensuring every product meets our high standards
• Track and move job components through production using Smart tools

Job Requirements

Education

High School diploma or GED required. Equivalent training and experience may be considered in place of formal education. Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis.

Experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Basic working knowledge of computer systems used in the Plate room (Mac OS/Windows OS & Imaging Job Control)
• Basic mechanical skills
• Ability to work schedules necessary to meet production needs - shifts may vary; overtime as required
• Knowledge of press layout configurations, including Saddle Stitch, Perfect Binding, Gatefolds, half and ¾ webs
• Basic understanding of workflows and procedures in the area
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write instructions and correspondence, and present information when necessary
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure
