Job summary

Nutrien in Aurora, NC is seeking a Safety & Security Officer to enforce site rules and safeguard personnel and assets. The role requires vigilance, strong communication, and rapid decision-making during 12-hour shifts.

You will monitor traffic, verify visitor IDs, inspect freight, and respond to emergencies to maintain safe operations. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, EMT certification preferred, 1–3 years in security, and basic computer skills.

• NCRC testing is required for all hourly applicants with minimum scores.
• 1-3 years of security and/or EMT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform security checks for traffic entering the plant site.
• Issue passes to visitors by verifying IDs.
• Conrm accuracy of inbound freight by reviewing DOT endorsements and bills of lading.
• Enforce federal, state, and company safety protocols and regulations.
• Collect samples of outbound product.
• Conduct perimeter security inspections and verify signage and fence condition.
• Provide emergency assistance to people on-site and in surrounding areas.
• Learn and follow Standard Operating Procedures, safety, and environmental regulations.

What You'll Do:

This position reports directly to the Supervisor, Safety Specialist.

This position is located in Aurora, North Carolina, U.S.A. and is not available for remote work.

What you will do:

The Safety & Security Ocer is responsible for maintaining and enforcing the security/safety rules and regulations for the Nutrien- Aurora plant site. In addition, the Safety & Security Ocer is responsible for providing world-class customer service for those entering the production area to conduct business. This position requires superior cognitive ability and system knowledge to manage the constant changes during a 12-hour shift. These activities are essential to cost-eective operations and require a strict attention to detail. Duties include but are not limited to overseeing and directing trac and support operation activities, conducting periodic inspections, and operating emergency response equipment in a safe and eective manner.

• Perform security checks for trac entering the plant site
• Issue plant passes to visitors by reviewing their license and verifying that the ID presented matches the description of the person presenting the ID, and that ID is valid
• Conrm accuracy of all in-bound freight deliveries by inspecting the operator's Department of Transportation endorsements and bills-of-lading
• Enforce federal, state and company (MARSEC, MSHA, OSHA, FDA, etc.) safety protocols and regulations
• Collect samples of all out-bound customer product
• Conduct inspections of perimeter security by checking gate components for proper operation, fence condition including vegetation control, and proper property signage
• Provide emergency assistance to people on the plant-site and surrounding municipalities
• Learning the details in all aspects of Standard Operating Procedures, safety, environmental procedures, and regulations is a requirement of the job

What You'll Bring:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 4 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 5 on Workplace Documents in order to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien. The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) must be uploaded with your resume during your application to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien
• 1-3 years of work-related experience in security and/or Emergency Medical Training Certication (EMT) is preferred keen observation skills, communication skills, and acute attention to details are needed
• Basic computer skills are required
