• Salary Range: 105,000-160,200 annually (salary range is based on market data; final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.)

Project Overview

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. The project supports customers in the semiconductor, datacenter, life sciences, and electric vehicle markets.

Job Summary

In this role, you will coordinate and update survey strategy, provide technical support for laser scanning and meteorology surveys, and oversee survey computer aided design (CAD) drawings, instrument calibration, subcontractor survey work, and project drone operations. Your recommendations will ensure drone flight safety and high quality, accurate work delivered within schedule and budget.

Major Responsibilities

• Support the survey team’s implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs.
• Provide technical support related to survey for Field Engineering and Superintendents in a wide range of situations and configurations.
• Establish, verify, and maintain the project’s survey control network.
• Review survey contractor’s reports and prepare comments and recommendations.
• Oversee the preparation of survey CAD drawings, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volume computations for quantity tracking verification.
• Work with field engineering to support field verification of materials as appropriate and needed.
• Provide laser scanning support to Construction and Project Management.
• Record field data accurately according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing scan activities.
• Provide metrology survey support to Construction and Project Management.
• Coordinate all metrology work requirements with Field Engineering, Supervision, Pipe Fitting personnel, Welding personnel, etc.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes typically acquired through specialized instruction or practical experience.
• Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Incidents” safety program and a strong drive toward safety.
• Knowledge of Bechtel quality standards.
• Solid record of successful project completion with little to zero rework.
• Knowledge of heavy industrial construction survey principles.
• Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to heavy industrial construction surveying field & office activities.
• Effective communication skills for motivating team members and presenting plans clearly and concisely.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment, collaborating with survey team members, other departments, and contractors.
• Advanced proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Excellent problem‑solving ability.
• Proficiency with Survey CAD software such as TBC (Trimble Business Center), Leica Infinity and AutoCAD Civil 3D, including construction layout computations and drafting of as‑staked/as‑built data.
• Proficiency with transferring data to and from field data controllers.
• Experience managing teams working on multiple work fronts and under time constraints.
• Physical capability to participate in project walk‑downs, including extensive walking on a construction site, climbing ladders, scaffolding, walking on elevated or uneven surfaces, maneuvering in confined spaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs without assistance.
