Under general supervision, provides clerical and administrative support to department heads and staff within various City departments. Typical duties include reception, word processing, record keeping, and filing. May perform related work as assigned.
Office Specialist I: Entry-level position, learning office procedures, with potential for advancement.
Office Specialist II: Journey-level, capable of performing a variety of office support duties independently, with opportunities for promotion to higher levels.
High school diploma or equivalent. 0-2 years (Office Specialist I) or 1-3 years (Office Specialist II) clerical experience. Municipal government experience is preferred.
Valid California Driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Knowledge of office practices, English usage, policies, and basic data processing. Ability to perform clerical tasks accurately, organize files, compose routine correspondence, and operate office equipment.
Work involves sedentary activities in an office environment, with potential local and statewide travel. Must be able to sit, stand, lift up to 10 pounds, and perform repetitive motions.
