Job summary

GEO Group is seeking an Office Records Manager/Programs Volunteer Coordinator to lead recreation, classification, education, volunteer and library programs within a secure facility.

This role requires coordinating activities, supervising staff, reviewing hearing reports, and helping shape facility policies. The position includes budgeting, goal setting, and volunteer program oversight, with background checks for external volunteers and regular reporting duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in correctional education or rehabilitative programs is expected.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and laws within a secure facility.
  • Must be capable of working with computers and department software.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs Classification, Intake, Recreation and Library activities.
  • Supervises classification, recreation, and library staff with security leadership.
  • Reviews hearing disposition reports and maintains file integrity.
  • Assists in developing and revising facility policies; completes annual budgets.
  • Sets future goals for the programs department and coordinates religious volunteer programs.
  • Maintains detainee handbook and completes monthly reports; recruits volunteers.
  • Manages and updates volunteer files; conducts IDP hearings and logs grievances.

Responsibilities
Summary

The Office Records Manager/Programs Volunteer Coordinator manages the functions and staff responsible for the recreation, classification, education, volunteer and library areas.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Office Records Manager/Programs Volunteer Coordinator plans and directs Classification, Intake, Recreation and Library activities in accordance with applicable standards, policies, procedures, and contractual terms.
  • Supervises the classification, recreation, and library officers in conjunction with Chief of Security and Captains.
  • The Office Records Manager/Programs Volunteer Coordinator reviews all files relative to hearing disposition reports.
  • Reviews the integrity of all files, reports, documents, and papers associated with classification.
  • The Office Records Manager/Programs Volunteer Coordinator assists in developing, reviewing and revising facility policies that apply to this position.
  • Completes and submits annual budgets
  • Establishes future goals and objectives for the programs department
  • Coordinates and supervises the facility religious volunteer program.
  • Maintains and updates detainee handbook on an annual basis.
  • Completes monthly reports as required.
  • Recruits volunteers from the outside (must pass background check).
  • Retains and updates all volunteer files on an annual basis.
  • Conducts IDP hearings on detainees.
  • Maintains detainee grievances and corresponding log.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience in a correctional security and rehabilitative program.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a correctional education program preferred of which at least three (3) years is in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of program objectives, policies, procedures, correctional laws, applicable court orders and requirements for managing a secure correctional facility.
  • Skill in interpretation of policies and procedures and appropriate application to work situations.
  • Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, able to command the respect and confidence ofinmates and staff.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
