The Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Manager to join our Self-Insurance office in Springfield. In this pivotal role, subject to management approval, you will oversee a dedicated team responsible for the effective administration of our self-insurance program.As the Assistant Manager, you will exercise full supervisory authority, guiding your staff to ensure excellence in service delivery and compliance with all relevant policies and regulations. Your leadership will play a crucial role in fostering a collaborative work environment and driving the success of our self-insurance initiatives.

Essential Functions

• Manages the Springfield Office of Self-Insurance and all Self-Insurance related tasks.
• Manages personal company workload.
• Performs highly responsible functions coordinating and assisting with the operation of the self-insurance program.
• Serves as a working supervisor.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
• Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.

Specialized Skills

• Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience analyzing financial statements to evaluate the financial strength of companies by applying financial accounting ratios per self-insurance regulations.
• Requires two (2) years of experience working with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission and Self-Insurance program including the policies, procedures, and rules to approve companies applying for self-insurance.
• Requires working computer knowledge of Dynamics 365 and Self-Insurance Office’s CRM and Portal applications to process self-insurance applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefers three (3) years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience analyzing complex financial statements.
• Prefers two (2) years' experience working with workers' compensation self-insurance policies, procedures, and rules.
• Prefers working computer knowledge of Dynamics 365 and Self-Insurance Office’s CRM and Portal applications.
• Prefers two (2) years of experience working with Microsoft Office programs.
• Prefers undergraduate degree in accounting.
