Description

Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU is seeking assistance for its annual fundraising event, Denim & Diamonds, scheduled for fall. This premier event attracts 625-650 attendees and raises over $300,000 annually for cancer research. The role involves tracking incoming funds after initial contact, managing check-in and check-out areas during the event, and collaborating with the manager on foundation paperwork and post-event reconciliation.

Examples of Duties

SCI Extra Help Fundraising Accounting/Training Duties:

  1. Denim & Diamonds
  2. Assist with event calendar and task deadlines.
  3. Manage foundation documents for mailing lists, sponsorships, Gift-In-Kind donations, and event invitations, including review and list compilation.
  4. Oversee management of Greater Giving/Auction Pay database: organize data entry, manage on-site check-in/out for sponsors and guests, track payments for auctions, raffles, and tickets, and record event details. Coordinate with volunteers and Electronic Bidding vendors during the event. Assist with fund reconciliation and submission post-event.
  5. Collaborate with the Auction Committee and GIK procurement, managing online applications and physical donation locations. Assist in bundling auction items to increase bids and coordinate pickup and delivery of items.
  6. Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of work experience comparable to the third level of this series.
