Job summary

Software Placement Group seeks a Senior Architect/Engineering Leader to open and lead a new office, serving as the firm’s senior representative in the Maryland and DC life-science market.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up and lead the Maryland/DC office operations.

Location: Silver Spring, MD | Schedule: Full-time, on-site

Overview

An architecture, engineering, and construction management firm focused on pharmaceutical and biotech facilities is opening a new office in the Maryland/DC region. The firm's work includes process and MEP engineering, process architecture, lab planning, and commissioning and qualification, and it already serves clients in Maryland. This role will establish and lead that new office, serving as the firm's senior representative in the market.

What you'll do

• Set up and run the Maryland office day to day
• Manage the office's financial performance, including utilization
• Hire and develop architects and engineers as the office grows
• Serve as the primary contact for the firm's clients in Maryland and the DC area
• Expand work with existing clients and develop new ones across the region's pharmaceutical and biotech market
• Lead proposals, including scope, fee, and schedule
• Represent the firm in the local life science community, including ISPE and other industry events
• Oversee projects from planning and design through construction and commissioning
• Coordinate with the firm's other offices to put the right technical staff on each project
• Keep projects on budget, on schedule, and in line with GMP requirements

Required qualifications

• Registered architect or licensed Professional Engineer
• Significant experience leading pharmaceutical or biotech facility projects, including managing the client relationship
• Established relationships in the Maryland and DC life science market
• Experience managing staff and project teams
• Working knowledge of GMP requirements for life science facilities

Preferred qualifications

• Prior office or department leadership experience is a plus
