Job summary

VRX, Inc. is seeking an Office Engineer to support project management and field teams on highway and bridge construction projects.

You will assist the Project Manager and Resident Engineer with technical and administrative tasks, coordinating project documentation, payments, and closeout activities. The role requires experience in NYSDOT/NYCDOT projects, NICET Highway certification, and a strong safety record.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
• NICET Level III or IV certification in Highway preferred.
• Minimum of five years of highway/bridge construction inspection experience preferred.
• Experience with NYSDOT/NYCDOT/NYCDDC/PANYNJ/MTA or similar public transportation projects preferred.
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1 certification
• OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification required
• Water Main Inspection Certificate
• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle to travel to project sites for inspections

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and administrative support to Project Manager and Resident Engineer.
• Organize, coordinate, and close out projects and assignments.
• Support contract administration, project documentation, and material certifications.
• Assist in preparing quantity/pay documentation and change orders.
• Support field inspections of highways and bridges.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements and standards.

Position - Office Engineer

Professional Qualifications Paragraph A motivated and dependable professional who leads by example and works well with staff. Provides technical support to the Project Manager and Resident Engineer and is responsible for the technical and administrative aspects of organizing, coordinating, and completing projects and assignments. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with others.

Technical Responsibilities

• Experience with NYSDOT construction contract administration, project documentation, material certifications, quantity/payment documentation, change orders, and project closeout is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of highway and bridge construction methods, materials, plans, specifications, and contract requirements
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1 certification
• OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification required
• Water Main Inspection Certificate
• Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to and from project sites for site inspections

Educational Requirements and Experience/Professional Licenses/Registrations

• Bachelor's degree (B. S., or B.A.) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of five years of relevant highway and/or bridge construction inspection experience preferred
