The Office Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring accurate project documentation, contractor coordination, and compliance tracking. This individual will act as a key liaison between field operations and project management, supporting efficient project execution. Former senior construction inspectors who are looking to transition into or expand their office‑based responsibilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is a full‑time, permanent opportunity ideal for candidates with 2.5 to 3+ years of construction inspection experience, specifically in bridge, highway, or structural projects. Those with railroad experience and familiarity with NJ DOT or NJ Transit will receive strong consideration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the coordination and documentation of highway maintenance and infrastructure construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project records including RFIs, submittals, change orders, contractor correspondence, and daily reports.
  • Review inspection reports and provide quality control to ensure compliance with design documents and standards.
  • Track project progress, assist with schedule management, and generate weekly or monthly reporting for internal and client use.
  • Support engineers and project managers in processing estimates and verifying quantities.
  • Facilitate communication between contractors, engineers, and state agencies to resolve technical or logistical issues promptly.
Required Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of experience in coordinating highway maintenance programs and field operations.
  • At least 2 years of office engineering experience including documentation management, reporting, and contractor coordination.
  • At least 2 years of road/bridge construction inspection experience.
  • Strong understanding of NJ DOT or NJ Transit protocols is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with construction management platforms (e.g., Primavera, Procore, or similar) is a plus.
Preferred Certifications
  • Prior experience as a senior construction inspector transitioning into engineering/administrative project support roles.
  • Familiarity with field‑to‑office workflows, especially for transportation projects.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to transportation infrastructure.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with employer contribution.
  • Paid holidays, vacation time, and professional development support.
  • Long‑term career growth with a reputable and growing firm.
