Job summary

Luster National, Inc. is seeking an Office Engineer to support large heavy civil projects, including highways, bridges, transit, and water programs.

You will manage submittals, RFIs, cost tracking, and document control, coordinating with designers, contractors, and client reps. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in office engineering or contract administration on major infrastructure projects, with experience in Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, and related tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or architecture or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of office engineering, contract administration, or document control on large heavy-civil projects over $500M.
  • Familiarity with construction estimates, reviews, and materials.
  • Experience with contract docs, specs, and drawings.
  • Experience with electronic doc management platforms (e.g., Procore, e-Builder, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, SharePoint).
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Unifier, Kahua).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Position Title: Office Engineer

About the Positions

Were seeking Office Engineers of various skill levels to support large, complex heavy civil infrastructure programs, including highways, roads, bridges, transit (bus and rail), aviation (international airports), and water/wastewater projects delivered through both traditional and alternative delivery methods. Your primary focus will be supporting day-to-day project operations by managing documentation, tracking submittals and RFIs, and coordinating with contractors, design teams, and client representatives. You will also assist with cost tracking, change order documentation, and other key project controls tasks to help ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support daily project operations by tracking and managing submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, designers, consultants, and client representatives to ensure timely responses and document flow.
  • Assist with reviewing and processing change orders, tracking cost impacts, and maintaining accurate logs.
  • Monitor construction schedules and support the integration of schedule updates with project records and reporting tools.
  • Maintain and organize project files, drawing sets, and document control systems in accordance with project standards.
  • Prepare status reports, log summaries, and other supporting documentation for project meetings and stakeholder updates.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of pay applications, invoice packages, and procurement-related documentation.
  • Participate in site visits, progress meetings, and coordination sessions as needed.
  • Help ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety protocols, and applicable agency standards.
  • Maintain project office, supplies, etc., and provide administrative support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering, construction management, or architecture, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years experience providing office engineering, contract administration, or document control support on large (>$500M), complex, heavy-civil infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with construction estimates, review and approval processes, construction compliance requirements, and common construction materials, methods, and procedures.
  • Experience working with contract documents, technical specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Experience with electronic document management and collaboration platforms (e.g., Procore, e-Builder, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam Revu, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Experience with industry standard project / construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Unifier, Kahua, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in civil engineering, construction management, or architecture.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE), or Architect Registration (AIA).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, Construction Documents Technologist (CDT), or Associate Constructor (AC) certification.
  • Experience on transit, aviation, or water/wastewater programs delivered through alternative delivery (CM/GC, design-build, progressive design-build, or P3).
  • Understanding of public agency procedures and contract compliance requirements (e.g., FTA, FAA, DOTs, etc.).
  • Experience with labor compliance and DBE reporting systems (e.g., LCPtracker, B2GNow, Elation, etc.).
  • Familiarity or proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle Cloud Analytics, or other dashboard KPI reporting software.

Compensation Details

Expected Salary: $90k-$150k/year ($43-$72/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidates level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
