Job summary

Luster National seeks Field Engineers to support large, complex heavy civil infrastructure programs across highways, bridges, transit, aviation, and water/wastewater. Roles cover field operations, ensuring technical accuracy, and safety compliance with project specs.

Open to multiple skill levels; candidates are evaluated for fit into our talent pool for upcoming projects. Strong knowledge of drawings, scheduling, and Q/C required; experience with Procore and Primavera P6 is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in field engineering, construction inspection, or field construction management on large >$500M, complex, heavy-civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFI processes across methods (design-bid-build, CM/GC, design-build, progressive design-build).
  • Familiarity with project scheduling, quality control, and document management processes.
  • Experience with industry standard project and construction management software (Primavera P6, TILOS, MS Project, Bluebeam, RSMeans).
  • Experience with field documentation and inspection platforms (Procore, e-Builder, Aconex, HeadLight, AASHTOWare Project Construction & Materials).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain field reports, logs, and documentation of progress, quantities, and site conditions.
  • Support development of work plans, look-ahead schedules, and coordination of upcoming construction activities.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to support timely delivery of materials, equipment, and field resources.
  • Participate in quality control activities, including inspections, material sampling, and documentation of test results.
  • Track and verify installed quantities to support progress billing, earned value reporting, and cost tracking.
  • Support safety initiatives through field engagement, participation in toolbox talks, and reinforcement of jobsite safety culture.
  • Support and coordinate resolution of field issues and discrepancies in collaboration with construction, design, and quality teams.
  • Prepare and track responses to RFIs to ensure timely, technically accurate communication and alignment with approved design and technical baselines.
  • Participate in project close-out activities, including punch list resolution, turnover documentation, and as-built record preparation.

Job description

We’re seeking Field Engineers of various skill levels to support large, complex heavy civil infrastructure programs, including highways, roads, bridges, transit (bus and rail), aviation (international airports), and water/wastewater projects delivered through both traditional and alternative delivery methods. You’ll be responsible for supporting field operations, ensuring technical accuracy, and maintaining compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or construction management.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Engineer in Training (EIT), Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE), or Architect Registration (AIA).
  • Experience with survey and layout technology (e.g., GPS machine control, robotic total stations, 3D design models, etc.).
  • Experience with BIM, 4D scheduling, or digital as-built tools (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Bentley ProjectWise, Civil 3D, etc.).
  • Familiarity or proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle Cloud Analytics, or other dashboard KPI reporting software.
Expected Salary

$80k-$125k/year ($38-$60/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidate’s level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
