Job summary

RailWorks Corporation in New York, NY is seeking an Office Engineer to support project teams by aligning technical execution with budget and schedule goals. You will manage scheduling, cost control, EVM, and risk mitigation for NYC transit rail projects.

The role requires 5–10 years in heavy civil construction, a Bachelor's in Engineering or Construction Management, and strong Primavera P6 and Excel skills. Travel across the U.S. and Canada may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management required.
  • Masters in Engineering preferred.
  • 5–10 years in heavy civil construction, preferably rail transportation.
  • Experience with NYC transit projects and their requirements.
  • Expertise in Primavera P6 and MS Excel; JD Edwards a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and maintain master project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Monitor budgets, labor claims, and cost variances via EVM.
  • Create reports and dashboards for stakeholders (Power BI/Excel).
  • Evaluate change orders and manage subcontract processes.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee procurement and document control to align with schedules.

Compensation

$105,000 - $125,000 / year total compensation

Position Summary

The Office Engineer supports project teams by implementing processes to align technical execution with budget and timeline goals. This role involves managing scheduling, cost engineering, earned value management (EVM), and risk mitigation for rail transportation projects, particularly within NYC transit.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Schedule Management:Develop and maintain master schedules usingPrimavera P6; perform critical path analysis.
  • Cost & Financial Control:Monitor budgets, track labor claiming, and evaluate cost variances usingEarned Value Management (EVM).
  • Data Visualization & Reporting:Create reports and dashboards (Power BIor Excel) for stakeholder insights.
  • Change & Contract Management:Evaluate change orders and manage subcontract processes.
  • Risk Mitigation:Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Procurement & Document Control:Oversee document control and monitor procurement to align with schedules.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience:5 to 10 years in heavy civil construction, preferably inrail transportation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management required, masters in Engineering preferred
  • NYC Transit Expertise:Experience withNew York City transitprojects and their requirements.
  • Software Proficiency:Expertise inOracle Primavera P6andMS Excel;JD Edwardsexperience is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills:Strong data operations, forecasting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications (Preferred):PMP, PMI-SP, or AACE credentials are valued.
  • Communication:Effective written and oral skills to communicate technical data.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Willingness to travel in the U.S. and Canada
