Job summary

Adams 12 Five Star Schools in Thornton, CO is hiring for a Replacement Permanent/Regular Secretary/Office Clerk to support the office manager and staff. The role includes clerical, administrative and data entry duties, basic bookkeeping, and coordinating with students, parents and external partners.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, at least two years of computer experience, and the ability to communicate in Spanish. CPR/First Aid are preferred.

  • Experience working with students preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with bookkeeping, place and track supply orders, prepare basic reports and collect fees.
  • Assist with student attendance processes and monitor bell-ringing.
  • Provide clerical support to other individuals, departments, programs and offices.
  • Assist with monitoring student records and files, including records requests.
  • Provide backup coverage to other positions and assist in health clinic as needed.
  • May assist with graduation and other duties.

SUMMARY

Assist office manager, secretary, other staff, programs or departments with secretarial, administrative and clerical support as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with bookkeeping, place and track supply orders, prepare basic reports and collect fees. Assists office manager in preparing reports, deposits, reconciling accounts and other activities. Maintain calendars.
  • Assist with student attendance processes. Monitor bell-ringing.
  • Provide clerical support to other individuals, departments, programs and /or offices. This may include phones, reception duties, monitoring visitors, assisting parents and students, typing, data entry, preparing memos, correspondence, bulletins, emails, receiving deliveries and mail and distributing as needed, etc. compiling and distributing material, brochures, etc. May include data entry, creating and updating documents including spreadsheets. May assist, provide information to, and respond to requests from students, staff, other departments, parents, and the community.
  • Assists with monitoring student records and files Including requesting records for new students, sending student records to new school for withdrawn students. May assist with year-end file maintenance.
  • Provide backup coverage to other school positions and assisting students in the health clinic and contacting parents/guardians as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. May assist with graduation.
  • Must speak Spanis
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with computers and general office.
  • Experience working with students preferred.

Spanish Speaking Required

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Or CERTIFICATIONS
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
Salary Information

All Classified positions are paid on an hourly basis. All Newly hired classified employees are placed initially on Step 1 of the pay grade for their position. Classified employees can advance an additional 7 steps (maximum Step 8) based on their previous experience. Final hourly placement on the Classified Salary schedule is dependent on the Grade Level for the position being posted and employees' previous work experience. "Grade" refers to position or job classification and "Step" refers to the number of work experience credit or service years. See our Classified Salary Schedule for hourly rates. Internal Candidates Only

13.2.5 Voluntary transfers that occur fifteen working days before the start of the school year and until the end of the school year shall happen once the position being vacated has been filled, for a duration of no more than four weeks. This four week time period could be adjusted in consultation with the educator, current and receiving supervisor and with approval from the Chief Human Resources Officer and the Association President.
