Responsibilities

  • Weigh incoming and outgoing trucks and accurately record weights in the applicable grain management or scale system.
  • Catalog and document product and grain loads, including product type, quantity, source, destination, and other required information.
  • Process and maintain scale tickets, receiving records, loadout documentation, and other grain-related records.
  • Perform grain checks, sampling, and grading according to established procedures.
  • Complete data entry accurately and timely, including grain receipts, shipments, inventory, sales, and other transactions.
  • Complete invoicing and sales transactions for the office location.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in a grain elevator, grain office, agricultural cooperative, farming, or related agricultural business.
  • Previous experience operating a grain scale or grain management system.
  • Experience with grain weighing, receiving, shipping, and loadout procedures.
  • Experience performing grain grading and quality testing.
  • Knowledge of grain quality factors, including moisture, test weight, grade, and DON/vomitoxin.
  • Experience with grain contracts, settlements, invoicing, or commodity sales.
  • Experience with inventory management and data entry.
  • Previous customer service or office administration experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience working in a seasonal or harvest-driven business environment.

  • Provide professional, courteous, and positive customer service to producers, customers, truck drivers, vendors, and other visitors.
  • Serve as a primary office and scale-house contact for producers and customers.
  • Weigh incoming and outgoing trucks and accurately record weights in the applicable grain management or scale system.
  • Catalog and document product and grain loads, including product type, quantity, source, destination, and other required information.
  • Process and maintain scale tickets, receiving records, loadout documentation, and other grain-related records.
  • Perform grain checks, sampling, and grading according to established procedures.
  • Conduct DON/vomitoxin testing and other grain quality tests as required.
  • Accurately record and communicate grain quality results, including moisture, grade, test weight, DON/vomitoxin levels, and other applicable measurements.
  • Communicate grain quality concerns or irregularities to the appropriate Grain Division personnel.
  • Complete filing needs and maintain organized electronic and paper records.
  • Perform inventory counts and assist with maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Complete data entry accurately and timely, including grain receipts, shipments, inventory, sales, and other transactions.
  • Complete invoicing and sales transactions for the office location.
  • Verify pricing, quantities, products, customer information, and other required details for invoices and sales transactions.
  • Assist with producer and customer account information and direct account questions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with grain receiving, shipping, and loadout documentation.
  • Communicate with Grain Division personnel regarding incoming and outgoing loads, grain quality, customer orders, and other operational needs.
  • Assist with resolving customer or producer questions and concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of customer, producer, financial, and company information.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized, clean, and professional office and scale-house environment.
  • Follow established procedures for grain sampling, testing, grading, weighing, documentation, and recordkeeping.
  • Assist with seasonal grain operations, including increased receiving, testing, grading, sales, invoicing, and administrative activity during harvest.
  • Participate in required safety training, meetings, inspections, and other company programs.
  • Follow all company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Exhibit an energetic, dependable, and professional attitude throughout all encounters during the workday.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the office, scale house, and grain facility as needed.
  • Ability to frequently move between the office, scale house, receiving area, and other facility locations.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform other movements necessary to complete job duties.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull office supplies, files, samples, and other materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to collect and handle grain samples as required.
  • Ability to use computers, telephones, calculators, scales, printers, scanners, testing equipment, and other office or grain-related equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE when entering operational areas of the grain facility.
  • Ability to safely navigate uneven, dusty, muddy, wet, icy, or slippery surfaces when working outside of the office.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
  • Work is primarily performed in an office or scale-house environment with regular exposure to grain facility operations.
  • Exposure to grain dust, agricultural dust, dirt, noise, odors, and other conditions associated with grain handling operations.
  • May work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight.
  • May work near trucks, railcars, forklifts, conveyors, grain handling equipment, and other industrial machinery.
  • May be exposed to elevated noise levels when entering operational areas of the facility.
  • May encounter uneven, muddy, wet, icy, or dusty surfaces.
  • May be exposed to grain testing materials and equipment and must follow all applicable handling and safety procedures.
  • Harvest and seasonal operations may require extended hours, early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Must follow all applicable safety, environmental, PPE, traffic, grain handling, and facility procedures when working in operational areas.
