The purpose of this position is to perform general clerical, accounting, and/or receptionist duties for the Police Department. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to answering and directing incoming calls; greeting and directing visitors to the department; performing various general office duties such as typing, filing, or copying; editing digital content of open records requests; and assisting other personnel, divisions and the general public.


Duties:

  • Ability to manage and edit digital content of open records requests including but not limited to documents, photographs, audio files, and video materials.
  • Ability to process sensitive and confidential content and material.
  • Uses computer to prepare and create correspondence, minutes of meetings, reports, agendas, spreadsheets, or other documents.
  • Compiles information and types from written notes, forms, letters, or reports; or designs forms, flyers, and lists.
  • Answers telephone for the Police Department; provides information, takes and relays messages accurately, and/or directs calls to appropriate personnel or other agencies.
  • Greets visitors to the Police Department; provides necessary information and/or applications, or directs visitors to appropriate personnel or department.
  • Assists with processing of applications; receives and processes fees.
  • Performs general office duties such as creating and maintaining files and records, processing mail, maintaining supply inventory, proofreading, filing, faxing, and/or photocopying.
  • Researches and gathers data/information for the assigned area and prepares routine and special reports as required by the job or requested by supervisor.
  • Attends staff and other professional meetings to exchange information; attends technical or professional classes or seminars to improve technical or professional skills.
  • Monitors safety training schedule to ensure participation of required personnel.

Requirements:

  • A High School diploma (or GED) is required (vocational/technical diploma preferred), with one to two years of clerical and computer experience, general business, and computer operation experience (depending on area of specialization); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
  • Familiarity with software utilized by City office personnel such as Word, Excel, Adobe, and CaseGuard; ability to learn job-related utilization of all software.

Salary: G1; $41,600(yr)/$20(hr); full benefits package

Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours, day shift
