Job Description:

FlexStaff is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Office Assistant/Insurance Specialist to join our client's dynamic team. This role involves providing essential clerical support and administrative duties to ensure the efficient operation of the office. Key responsibilities include answering phones, sorting and distributing mail, preparing documents, overseeing the petty cash fund, and maintaining office supply inventory. Additionally, you will manage office files, implementing an accessible and organized filing system.


This position is located in New Haven, CT


As an Office Assistant/Insurance Specialist, your duties will include obtaining accurate insurance information, verifying and pre-authorizing insurance claims, and ensuring timely and accurate billing processes. You will review clinician charts for completeness, monitor key statistics related to sales, revenue, cash flow, and patient flow, and coordinate practitioner schedules to optimize patient appointments. The role also involves training and supervising administrative staff while maintaining high customer service standards.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in office administration or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of administrative and clerical experience required.
  • At least three years of healthcare billing/collections experience required; experience in orthopedics preferred.
  • Complete understanding of medical reimbursement and terminology.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with automated billing systems (O&P Software Medflex/OPIE preferred).
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
