Job summary

AdventHealth in Hendersonville, NC, is seeking a full-time Medical Records Clerk to support patient care operations. You will facilitate medical record requests, assist with daily closing, and ensure adherence to department policies while helping patients with timely, friendly service.

Responsibilities include collecting documents, scheduling appointments to reduce no-shows, obtaining authorizations, collecting payments, and processing referrals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with daily closing procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of department policies and procedures to assist patients appropriately.
  • Answers the telephone and handles calls in a timely and friendly manner, including appropriate documentation of the call.
  • Collects required documents such as insurance cards and photo IDs for encounters.
  • Schedules and confirms patient appointments prior to the appointment date to ensure a low no-show rate.
  • Obtains appropriate medical records and patient information to support patient care needs and distributes documentation within the AMR accurately and timely.
  • Obtains insurance authorizations and verifies coverage prior to the patient's appointments, notifying the patient of the current status.
  • Collects copays, deposits, deductibles, prior balances, coinsurance, and self-pay payments at the time of service per department policy.
  • Establishes patient payment plans as required by department policy.
  • Processes patient referrals accurately and timely.

Pay Range

$15.20 - $24.32
