Job summary

City of Wichita seeks entry-level seasonal/part-time staff to assist in multiple recreation facilities, including the recreation center, tennis center, Watson Park, and golf course clubhouse. Roles involve serving customers, handling cash, stocking products, and assisting with activities and classes.

These positions are limited part-time with varying day and hour schedules. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and meet basic arithmetic and communication requirements.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months in a customer-facing environment
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.

Distinguishing Features of Work

This is entry-level seasonal or part-time work with assignments in a wide variety of areas – Recreation Center, Athletics, Tennis Center, Watson Park or golf course clubhouse. Employees will interact directly with activity participants.

THIS IS A LIMITED PART-TIME POSITION

The day and hours for this position: Varies

• Completion of work assignments may require operation of a vehicle.

Requirements of Work

• Knowledge of arithmetic
• Ability to count money and make change
• Ability to use a computer to access, interpret and record information
• Ability to accept and respond to a steady volume of requests for information and/or service, both in person and over the telephone
• Ability to lift and carry stacks, boxes or other loads weighing up to 40 pounds
• Ability to teach students who have a wide variety of experience and aptitude
• Ability to communicate orally clearly and effectively
• Able to maintain effective working relationships with associates, participants and the public.
• May require ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License.
• An employee will not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
