PLEASANT RIDGE, MICHIGAN – OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

Pleasant Ridge, MI – The City of Pleasant Ridge, Michigan, is a close-knit and friendly community with tree-lined streets and excellent public services. The city is at the center of Southeast Michigan located at historic Woodward Avenue and I-696, is about 0.6 square miles and has a population of approximately 2,650 residents. Situated in southern Oakland County, about two miles north of Detroit, the city has easy access to urban amenities, while maintaining its historic charm and reputation as a premier residential community.

The City of Pleasant Ridge is seeking a customer-focused, detail-oriented individual to join its team as a full-time Office Administrator. This position will work under the direct supervision of the City Clerk and is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and office assignments. This role requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The individual must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work independently.

The individual will assist in the day-to-day administration of all aspects of the city. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to public service and a willingness to be a member of a small, collaborative, high-performing team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct customer service at the counter and by phone.
  • Process tax and utility payments; maintain receipt and billing records.
  • Administer water billing functions, including preparing bills, monitoring water meters, processing final bills, identifying past-due accounts and mail late-payment statements, coordinating water system repairs and maintenance tasks with City DPW staff and contractors.
  • Administer building department functions, including receiving and processing applications for building permits, scheduling inspections, following up on inspection results, and responding to inquiries from the public regarding building and construction matters.
  • Support office operations, including filing, scanning, and records management.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • Experience in a customer-service focused role.
  • Working knowledge of office technology.
  • Municipal experience is a plus, but not required.

The wage for the position is $63,000+, depending on qualifications and experience, and includes an excellent benefits package. Regular office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required during peak periods. This is a fully in-person role.
