Job summary

Wayne Farms LLC in Union Springs, AL is seeking a hands-on operator to oversee offal screening, DAF, sludge production/dewatering, and chemical mixing/injection systems. You will follow PPE, company policies, and NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines.

The role requires night/weekend availability, basic math, and the ability to drive a jockey truck and tractor with a valid GA license; strong mechanical knowledge is a must. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivated.
• Experience with pumps, valves, and irrigation systems.
• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and operates offal equipment and machinery (e.g., tum ble screens, augers, pumps, dewatering equipment).
• Observes fill levels on trailers and tankers; drives jockey truck to move trailers and tankers.
• Monitors wastewater equipment and chemistry (santiquan, polymer, caustics).
• Performs cleaning and housekeeping tasks in assigned areas.
• Coordinates pick-up/delivery with third-party drivers; assists with loading/unloading.

PAY: $25.65 + $3,000 Sign & Stay BonusWORK SCHEDULE: 1:00 PM - 9:30 PMBENEFITS: Available first day of hirePRIMARY FUNCTION:Primarily responsible for overseeing the operation and compliance of our offal screening, DAF, sludge production/dewatering, and chemical mixing/injection system. Must always use and maintain personal protective equipment, and work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:Monitors and operates offal equipment and machinery such as tumble screens, augers, pumps, motors, dewatering equipment, compressors, chemical feed equipment, etc.Observes the fill level on trailers and tankersDrives jockey truck to move full and empty trailers and tankersMonitors mechanical wastewater equipment such as meters, pumps, motors, electrical, pivots, etc.Measures and monitors wastewater chemicals such as santiquan, polymer, and caustics. Washing soaps, etc.Performs cleanup and housekeeping tasks for assigned work area, tools, equipment, facilities, and grounds (i.e. walls and ceiling in receiving area, outside offal area, offal hole near open top, etc.)Works with third party drivers to coordinate the pick-up and delivery times of loaded and empty trailers and tankersBail and compact cardboard as requestedPerforms other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Safety & Environmental ManagerREQUIRED SKILLS:Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours.Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.Experience with pumps, valves, and irrigation systems.Must be able to drive a tractor or ability to learn (good driving record and valid GA driver license required)Strong mechanical knowledge and experience requiredMust be able to drive jockey truck to move offal trailers and tankers.Must have the ability to work alone, use good judgment and make decisions.PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma or equivalent.Relative poultry industry experience.Basic math functions and skills.Pass NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1 requiredSAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Frequently lifts up to 50 lbs. (daily).Walks inside and outside environment on a daily basis (1-5 miles per day).Frequently stoops, kneels, crawls, and bends.Must have good visual skills including the ability to see and distinguish colors.Must have good listening skills.Climbs stairs daily and occasionally climbs ladders.
