Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Oversee offal equipment and machinery including tumble screens, augers, pumps, dewatering equipment, compressors, and chemical feed equipment.
  • Observe fill levels on trailers and tankers.
  • Drive jockey truck to move full/empty trailers and tankers.
  • Monitor wastewater equipment such as meters, pumps, motors, and electrical systems.
  • Measure and monitor wastewater chemicals such as santiquan, polymer, and caustics; perform cleanup and housekeeping tasks.
  • Coordinate with third-party drivers for pickup/delivery times of loaded/empty trailers and tankers; bail and compact cardboard as requested.

Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:Primarily responsible for overseeing the operation and compliance of our offal screening, DAF, sludge production/dewatering, and chemical mixing/injection system. Must always use and maintain personal protective equipment, and work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:Monitors and operates offal equipment and machinery such as tumble screens, augers, pumps, motors, dewatering equipment, compressors, chemical feed equipment, etc.Observes the fill level on trailers and tankersDrives jockey truck to move full and empty trailers and tankersMonitors mechanical waste water equipment such as meters, pumps, motors, electrical, pivots, etc.Measures and monitors waste water chemicals such as santiquan, polymer, and caustics. Washing soaps, etc.Performs cleanup and housekeeping tasks for assigned work area, tools, equipment, facilities, and grounds (i.e. walls and ceiling in receiving area, outside offal area, offal hole near open top, etc.)Works with third party drivers to coordinate the pick-up and delivery times of loaded and empty trailers and tankersBail and compact cardboard as requestedPerforms other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Safety & Environmental ManagerREQUIRED SKILLS:Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours.Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.Experience with pumps, valves, and irrigation systems.Must be able to drive a tractor or ability to learn (good driving record and valid GA driver license required)Strong mechanical knowledge and experience requiredMust be able to drive jockey truck to move offal trailers and tankers.Must have the ability to work alone, use good judgment and make decisions.PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma or equivalent.Relative poultry industry experience.Basic math functions and skills.SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Frequently lifts up to 50 lbs. (daily).Walks inside and outside environment on a daily basis (1-5 miles per day).Frequently stoops, kneels, crawls, and bends.Must have good visual skills including the ability to see and distinguish colors.Must have good listening skills.Climbs stairs daily and occasionally climbs ladders.
