Job summary

Century-Linen in Massachusetts is seeking an Onsite Linen Worker to support daily operations in the Linen Department at a hospital location.

You will manage cart preparation, linen orders, distribution and inventory logs, load and unload carts, stock shelves, and communicate with hospital staff while rotating day/night shifts.

This role requires physical stamina, teamwork, and the ability to work in an indoor, climate-controlled environment with long hours when needed.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent required.
  • Able to work with hospital staff to provide linen supplies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to read and write in English.
  • Reading and writing comprehension, computer and math skills at a high school level.
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities in changing situations.
  • Strong teamwork; ready to work closely with team members.
  • Open to day or night shifts and rotating schedules.
  • Willing to work long hours and weekends (Sat/Sun).

Responsibilities

Job Summary:The Onsite Linen Worker is responsible for day-to-day activities of the Linen Department within a customer location including monitoring and distribution of daily linen deliveries.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Preparing departmental exchange carts as neededPreparing, reviewing and placing linen orders, logging linen distribution and inventory into software program, running and preparing linen distribution reportsLoading and unloading carts of linenStocking shelves or cartsCommunicating with hospital staffAll other duties as assigned by the managerSupervisory Responsibilities:N/AMinimum Qualifications:High school or equivalentAble to work effectively with hospital staff in providing linen suppliesExcellent verbal and written communication skills: the ability to speak, read and understand EnglishReading and writing comprehension, computer and math skills typically associated with a high school level educationQuality orientation and high attention to detailAble to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situationsStrong teamwork skills- ready and willing to work closely with team membersOpen to and able to work day or night shifts, and willing to rotate shifts depending on needOpen to long hours and working weekends (Sat/Sun)Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience working in a plant environmentTravel Required:N/APhysical Requirements:The position requires constant standing, bending, stooping, walking, and the ability to lift and handle material with weight up to 50 pounds, and possibly including the handling of sealed bags of soiled linen and servicing scrub vending machines. Constant pushing/pulling of laundry carts with weights of 250 lbs. is common with some cart weights exceeding 600 lbs.Work Environment:This job takes place within the Linen Room and throughout the hospital. The working environment is indoors and is seasonally heated and cooled with minimal noise levels.
