Job summary

The Hiller Companies, LLC is actively seeking a Marine Service Technician- Offshore to ensure the safety and compliance of marine vessels by supporting firefighting inspections per USCG and ABS codes. This role requires offshore availability and a strong mechanical/electrical skill set.

You will learn the scope of work for inspections, use smart apps to document findings, and complete paperwork for databases. A valid TWIC and passport may be required for offshore assignments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of offshore experience servicing marine fire protection systems.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.
• OPITO-approved THUET with CA-EBS.
• LSF endorsement in Fire Alarm/Fixed Fire Suppression/Fire Extinguishers and Hoses.
• TWIC card or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

Job Summary: The Marine Service Technicians are responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of marine vessels by assisting in the performance of firefighting inspections according to US Coast Guard (USCG) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in performing firefighting inspections per USCG and ABS Codes.
• Learn and understand the “Scope of Work” for all inspections.
• Utilize smart device applications to manage / schedule inspection documentation.
• Complete all required paperwork and upload to database.
• Document required deficiencies and items required for repair.
• Manage customer expectations to maintain excellent customer relations.

What we are looking for:

• 3+ years of offshore experience servicing systems.
• Valid driver's license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance
• OPITO-approved THUET with CA-EBS
• Current or able to obtain Louisiana State Fire Marshal endorsement in Fire Alarm, Fixed Fire Suppression, and Fire Extinguishers and Hoses
• Current TWIC card or able to obtain
• Valid Passport or ability to obtain
• Must be willing to work offshore for long periods of time

• Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and lift equipment.
• Proficient in the use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, & Outlook and the ability to work on tablet/phone-based applications.
• Good time-management skills.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc.
• Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed, which would require use of fall protection equipment and other safety devices
• Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.
