Job summary

Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) invites applications for a Test Vehicle Operator at our Silver Springs, NV site. You will operate test vehicles on diverse off-road and on-road courses, collect data, and ensure safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities include in-field testing, data logging, and minor maintenance under supervision. Prior proving ground experience and Nevada CDL are preferred; full-time position with competitive starting pay.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week with varied shifts.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada Driver's License with clean driving record for 3 years (<=2 points).
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Operate test vehicles including light trucks, cars, manual/automatic transmissions and military vehicles.
• Able to operate safely in daylight and darkness.
• Sit for long periods and perform field tests.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with staff and customers.
• Read/interpret technical manuals, log driver data, and report anomalies daily.

Responsibilities

• Operates test vehicles safely on varied on/off-road test courses.
• Performs field tests and collects data (gauges, temperature, pressure, fuel, amperage).
• Records engine readings and performance across gear ranges.
• Inspects vehicles and components; notes failures or observations.
• Submits completed test data logs and performs minor field maintenance as directed.
• Maintain and repair major components (tires) as needed.
• Enforces safety plan and ensures safe work practices.
