Job description

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an academically-oriented oculoplastic ophthalmologist to grow our oculoplastics division. The opportunity to provide multi-disciplinary care exists through strong relationships with Facial Plastics, Otolaryngology, and Neurosurgery departments at University Hospitals. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience. The University Hospitals Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at University Hospitals / Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) brings together world-renowned physicians and leading research scientists to prevent, treat, and cure the most prevalent and devastating diseases of the eye- all while training the next generation of ophthalmologists. The department supports a 6-resident per year Ophthalmology residency training program, as well as fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, and Retina. A robust and active clinical trials team (our Vision Research Coordinating Center) supports NIH and corporate sponsored trials as well as investigator-initiated studies. The Visual Science Research Center of CWRU School of Medicine, which is led by the Department, is a top funded basic science research group supported by P-30 core and T-32 training grants.

The position entails clinical activity at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and two of our associated satellite clinics. Well-equipped minor OR facilities are available within all clinic locations at which the oculoplastics faculty member would be utilizing.

The successful candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried into the decision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, foster a high level of patient satisfaction, and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication. Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills are required. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in teaching. The candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology, with subspecialty training in Oculoplastics. The candidate must also possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio.
